Well, after a couple of weeks here in Oxford I plucked up the courage to attend a masterclass with Lydia Kavina (one of the most well respected theremin virtuoso's ever, and niece to Leo Theremin himself!).
Lydia gives masterclasses in this exotic and ethereal electronic instrument in the Faculty of Music's own Dennis Arnold Hall. I left with a new found respect for the art of the theremin players, particularly with regards to their seemingly effortless control over the huge variation of pitch and dynamics that the instrument offers.
Great fun!
