Mindfield: Keynote, Neuroscience Letters, UCLA performance...

Hello,

I will be giving the Keynote talk at the 6th Annual School of Psychology Conference, "Mindfield" - Registration is still open and is, I believe, free. My talk will be on the Thursday and is entitled "Music, Mind and Affective States" as part of the BCMI-MIdAS project.

Also as part of the BCMI-MIdAS project we have a paper in the current Neuroscience Letters, "Neural correlates of emotional responses to music: An EEG study", available online here.

"Unfolding|Clusters" premiered last week at the UCLA Art|Sci centre, the first in a series of planned international performances. "Unfolding|Clusters" is a multimedia installation modelling the behaviour of amino acid sequences in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (the most common of the motor neurone diseases), and has been made in collaboration with the David Geffen school of medicine, UCLA, and the Dipartimento di Scienze Mediche e Chirurgiche, Bologna Italy. The work has also been supported by a Santander Postgraduate Internationalisation Scholarship for post-graduate ICCMR researcher Federico Visi who has headed up the project with Giovanni Dothel in LA. You can expect a UK installation later this year and in the south-west in early 2015. There is an academic paper accompanying "Unfolding|Clusters" at the forthcoming Electronic Visualisation and the Arts conference in London on the 8th-10th July.

Also on the conference front, I will be giving two papers early next month, one at the New Interfaces for Musical Expression conference at Goldsmiths, and the other at the joint British Form for Ethnomusicology / Analaytical Approaches to World Music conference held at the School of Oriental and Asian Studies, University of London, on the 3rd and 4th of July respectively. Details are available on the publications page now.

That's it for the time being!

Cheers,

Duncan
